German investor wants to sell or close down detergent factory in western Romania
German family business Dalli, which operates the main detergent factory in Romania at Timisoara and holds brands such as Dash and Bonux in its portfolio, decided to cease operations in the country, Profit.ro reported.
Dalli is going to close down the factory, which employs some 200, unless it finds a buyer by the end of the year as part of a broader restructuring process of the entire group.
The investor says that "continued changes in the market, as well as rising prices for raw materials and energy, are forcing a fundamental restructuring to ensure the future of the company."
The restructuring process covers other European subsidiaries of the company as well.
In 2014, the German group Dalli bought the factory from the American giant Procter & Gamble (P&G). A wide range of home care products (powder and liquid) is manufactured in Timisoara, with the unit having an annual capacity of over 300,000 tonnes.
"This factory is one of the largest units in the Dalli Group. The product range ranges from bleach detergents to hand dishwashing detergents, which are sold in various sizes of packaging and bottles," according to a description on the company's website.
