Danone grows dairy sales in Romania and plans to produce more locally
French dairy producer Danone grew its business in Romania by 10 percent last year on the previous, reaching a turnover of EUR 113 million. The growth was due to a market strategy which was adapted to the needs of its consumers, the company has announced. The company's net profit also went up last year compared to 2009, according to Stephane Batoux, general manager of Danone Romania (in picture), who didn't mention the actual profit figures.
The dairy maker plans to invest around EUR 4.7 million in Romania this year, which will be directed to logistics and to increasing the production capacity of Danone's factory in Romania.
The company produces 1.3 million products a day. 90 percent of the company's products sold in Romania are also made in its factory in Bucharest. 3 percent of the local production goes to the Adriatic region and the Republic of Moldova. The company hopes to increase the ratio of exports to 4 percent of the local production.
Danone has 740 employees in Romania and sells 70 types of products, some of them being Activia, Danonino, Actimel, Nutriday, Cremosso, Danette, Casa Bună.
