Decathlon opens its 15th store in Romania
French sportswear retailer Decathlon will open its 15th store in Romania next week, on October 30.
The unit will be located in Arcade Oradea Sud shopping center, in Oradea, western Romania, and it will cover about 1,500 sqm, reports local Ziarul Financiar.
Decathlon posted a turnover of EUR 70 million last year, up by a third compared to 2013. The turnover was eight times bigger compared to 2009, when the French company entered the local market. Three out of its 15 stores are located in Bucharest.
The local sporting goods market amounts to EUR 406 - 496 million. Decathlon has competitors such as the specialized players Intersport or Hervis, the hypermarket chains and the mono-brand stores such as Adidas or Nike.
