Romania’s Defense Ministry sent a letter to the Parliament requesting approval for two endowment programs for the Army worth a total of EUR 861 million.
The bigger program targets the acquisition of 3.385 military trucks and pieces of transport equipment. The contract has an estimated value of EUR 737 million and will be carried out over a period of ten years, until 2027, local Mediafax reported.
The other program aims to modernize Romania’s IAR-99 aircraft and turning them into IAR-99 Super Falcon aircraft. The cost of this program, which includes 21 aircraft, is estimated at EUR 124 million. The new aircraft will be used to train Romanian pilots for the F-16 program.
