Local real estate developer buys 150-year-old haunted hotel in Romania
Local real estate developer Trust Invest, controlled by businessman Nicolae Capusan, will buy the Decebal Hotel in Baile Herculane, Caras-Severin County, put up for sale by the tax agency ANAF.
The developer will borrow RON 4.5 million (some EUR 1 million) from OTP Bank for this transaction, reports Profit.ro.
The Decebal Hotel, formerly known as Franz Iosif Hotel, was built in 1865. The building is said to be haunted by a woman who is guarding a Roman treasure hidden in the hotel.
The website of Herculane City Hall also presents the hotel as being a haunted place.
“The Decebal Hotel in Hercules Square ranked fourth in the “10 Haunted Hotels” top made by America Tours in 2010-2011, which presented the ghost of a woman, seen by a couple of tourists. A local legend says that a Roman treasure had been hidden beneath the foundation of the 150-year-old Decebal Hotel, the ghost keeping treasure hunters away,” reads the presentation on the City Hall’s website.
ANAF organized an auction to sell this hotel in July, but the tender didn’t attract any bidders, reports Profit.ro. Thus, the tax agency decided to drop the price and try again.
