Diaverum enters Romanian market via Polisano dialysis clinic buyout

Kidney care provider Diaverum recently acquired Romanian Clinica Dialmed, a member of the Polisano Group, which provides dialysis services in Romania through nine clinics. The deal marks Diaverum's entry into the Romanian market. The sellers were the Vonica family, who founded and own the Polisano medical care chain in Romania.

The Romanian subsidiary of Diaverum will be led by Camelia Cucu, the former General Manager at competitor Nefromed Dialysis Centers, a part of Euromedic.

The clinics acquired by Diaverum in Romania are located in Bucharest, Sibiu, Medias, Tg. Jiu, Miercurea Ciuc, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Bistrita, as well as Roman city, and treat almost 10 percent of the around 9,000 people in Romania requiring kidney replacement therapy. Worldwide, more than two million people suffer from end stage renal disease (ESRD). This number is projected to double by 2025.

Legal advisor DLA Piper and financial advisor KPMG assisted Diaverum in the transaction.
