Discover Romania through pictures taken by expat women: photo exhibition and book
A group of expat women in Romania, under the guidance of photographer Mihai Constantineanu will organize a photo exhibition between May 28 and June 24 at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Bucharest. The 38 amateur female photographers have captured images throughout Romania, promising to bring a new and fresh perspective. This is the second edition of the exhibition. Last year's event was called ‘Romania Through the Lenses of Expat Women’.
United by a passion for photography, these 38 women all have different backgrounds and they come from 20 nations. One finds women from as far afield as Austria, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, England, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Scotland, Slovakia, Spain, South Africa, Turkey, the USA, and Wales. The group even includes three from Romania, coming back here after spending some years abroad and now considering themselves also as ‘expats’.
This year's photo exhibition will also be accompanied by a book launch, 'An A to Z of Romania'. The book will be launched on May 27 at the Crowne Plaza hotel. You can get more details about the event and how to attend from Daniela Mager, dmager@comservices.de.
All of the funds raised from the sale of prints and books will be donated to the causes the photographers are involved in Romania. The Romanian NGOs that have been nominated this year to receive support from the project are Casa Ioana, Fundatia Inocenti, Hope for Health, Light into Europe, Asociata Little People, Mia’s Children, Our Lady of Mercy, Second Chance Romania and Tedi si Copii.
Mihai Constantineanu, a former engineer and business journalist, has dedicated himself to photography, one of his main passions. You can see some of photos on his website here (in Romanian).
