Domestic consumption of electricity, close to a record in Romania in July
The domestic consumption of electricity recorded a significant increase in July due to the high temperatures, reaching an average value of 6.474 MW. It came very close to the highest value in the past four years, which was recorded in July 2012 and amounted to 6.635 MW.
In July 2012, the daily average temperature across the country varied between a minimal value of 20.5 degrees and a maximum of 27.6 degrees Celsius, whereas in July this year, the temperatures varied between 18.9 degrees and 27.8 degrees Celsius.
The highest gross internal consumption this summer, which reached 7.048 MW, was recorded on July 23. The daily average temperature amounted to 27 degrees on that day, whereas in Bucharest it reached 28 degrees.
Electricity consumption increases during very hot days because of the intensive use of air conditioning systems, both in residential and office buildings.
