Driver “parks” Dacia Duster at central Paris Metro entrance
A confused driver has ended up trapping his car, a Dacia Duster, on the steps of a Paris metro station, after mistaking it for the entrance to an underground car park.
“There’s a sign saying “Haussmann Parking” right in front…I made a mistake” said the driver for AFP. The car 26-year-old driver managed to brake in time to stop the vehicle, but left the back wheels sticking out. Fortunately no one was hurt. The bizarre accident was also picked up by BBC - check the video below.
The policeman tested the driver but he hadn't consumed any alcohol. Many people stopped to take photos of the the Dacia Duster on the steps of the line 9 station, Chaussee d’Antin-La Fayette, in the heart of Paris, near the Opera and outside the Galleries La Fayette department store.
The Dacia Duster has become increasingly popular in Western Europe and is Renault's best selling Dacia brand. In France, Dacia ranks fifth in sales.
The Romanian car brand, produced by French Renault, which owns the Dacia factory in Romania, sold 343,000 cars worldwide last year. Dacia Duster accounted for around half of the sales. Most of the sales were outside Romania – some 312,000 units. The sales in France stood at 94,000 units last year.
