Kate Middleton, the new Duchess of Cambridge, who has recently married Prince William of Wales has worn a dress made in Romania for her meeting with Michelle Obama, the wife of US president Barack Obama. The dress, priced at 175 British pounds, was bought from retailer Reiss and has been made in Romania, at a production price under 15 British pounds, according to the Daily Mail.

Kate's dazzling dress is made in Romanian 'sweatshop' by women on just 99p an hour, writes the British daily. “The 170 employees of clothing firm Rimcor Ex work in a factory which resembles an industrial compound, with bars on the windows, 8ft walls and solid metal fences around the periphery,” according to the Daily Mail.

Kate's dress is named the Shola dress and has placed the retailer Reiss in the spotlight. The retailer has run an ad on its website mentioning the dress (here). The dress is available for online shopping here but due to the high demand, the item is currently out of stock.

The Obamas, who are currently on an European tour, met members of the Royal House in UK last week.  Read the entire Daily Mail story here.
