Easter brings rain, snow and wind across Romania
Rain, wind and snow have taken over regions of Romania just a few days ahead of the Orthodox Easter. Meteorologists issued a Code Yellow for rain in seven counties, valid until Thursday evening, April 17.
It will continue to rain in the counties of Caraș-Severin, Gorj, Mehedinți, Olt, Dolj, Vâlcea and partially in Argeș, as well as in Bucharest. Meanwhile, it will continue to snow in the mountainous areas, where in some regions the layer of snow is already 60 centimeters thick.
Skiing fans however have reasons to rejoice, as the ski slopes in Brasov county are ready to welcome then during the Easter weekend, with layers of snow between 10 and 20 centimeters.
The layer of snow is even thicker now than it was during Christmas in 2013, when many accommodation facilities were left empty because of the lack of snow in the mountains.
Temperatures in Romania will range between 7 and 17 degrees Celsius until Easter, celebrated on April 20 and 21, and will continue to go up the week after Easter and towards the end of April.
