Belgian aircraft parts producer gets USD 8.5 mln loan from EBRD for factory in Romania
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has granted a USD 8.5 million loan to the Belgian company Sonaca, to build a new factory in the Cluj county, 30-km away from Cluj-Napoca.
The group, which produces aircraft components, already received a state aid of EUR 5.4 million last year for this project. The total investment amounts to almost EUR 16 million.
In September 2015, the Belgian company bought a 20,000-sqm plot in Turda to build the aircraft component plant. The new factory should be due in about two years. The local plant will produce hand lay-up parts and will assemble blades for the Airbus A320 aircraft, according to a company press release.
Sonaca has its headquarters in Belgium. It owns production units in Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China and Romania.
