EC: Romania risks breaking EU regulation on budget deficit
Six European countries, including Romania and Italy, risk breaking the EU regulation on the budget deficit, the European Commission has warned.
The EC has recommended these countries to take measures to fulfil their obligations agreed upon under the Stability and Growth Pact. The countries include Spain, Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Italy, and Romania.
“These countries still have to take the necessary measures, so we send them today an early warning signal,” said Valdis Dombrovskis, EC vice-president.
In April, the EU member states will present their national reform programs as well as their stability or convergence programs. Based on them, the Commission will present its proposals with a set of recommendations for each country.
