EC starts investigation on two Romanian airports
The European Commission has initiated two separate investigations to determine whether the state’s measures in favor of two state-owned airports in Transylvania, Cluj-Napoca and Targu-Mures, and the air carriers that uses them, mainly Wizz Air, complied with the European Union rules on state aid, according to a EC press release.
The investigation targets especially the marketing fees paid to Wizz Air by the International Cluj-Napoca Airport and the reduced airport charges offered by the Transylvania Targu-Mures Airport to the air carriers which operate flights from that airport.
EC will also investigate the subsidies received by the two airports from the local authorities.
