Egyptian army to Hosni Mubarak: We don't want you to end like [Romanian president] Nicolae Ceausescu

The Egyptian army has sent a hidden message to president Hosni Mubarak (in picture), suggesting they would back up street protesters in the country, said one of the protesters: 'We loved you 30 years ago. We don't want to humiliate you. We don't want you to end like [Romanian president] Nicolae Ceausescu. Go in peace,” said the Egyptian protester, quoted by The Guardian. Romanian president Nicolae Ceausescu was executed following the 1989 revolution in Romania, which ended the communist regime in the country.

Commenting on the military's assurances regarding protesters' security, Muhammad Warsi, a 60-year-old surgeon, in Cairo said: "The high command of the army delivered a hidden message,” according to the Guardian article.

Egypt is currently witnessing street protests against the regime led by president Hosni Mubarak. As many as one million people protested on Tuesday in Cairo and in Alexandria, according to international media.
