18 new electric buses to be purchased for Cluj-Napoca metropolitan area

27 April 2022

Cluj-Napoca mayor Emil Boc announced on April 26 that 18 new electric buses would be purchased for Cluj-Napoca and the nearby communes of Floresti, Baciu, and Apahida.

Boc said that the municipality of Cluj-Napoca, in partnership with the town hall of Floresti commune, will purchase 18 electric buses of 18 m plus 18 standard charging stations for the bus depot and 6 fast-charging stations that will be installed on the route of the electric buses.

The money comes from the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the C10 - Local Fund component. This component aims to implement territorial policies, including urban mobility, with a focus on green and digital investment and reducing regional disparities.

“Ensuring an efficient, accessible and sustainable public transport system is a priority for the City Hall. The purchase of environmentally friendly, clean means of transport, as well as the implementation of public policies designed to encourage the use of public transport, contribute to increasing the quality of life of citizens and building an attractive and sustainable urban environment,” Emil Boc said on Facebook.
