Electricity import – export ban for energy suppliers, producers in Romania
New regulations will allow only energy traders to import or export electricity, based on a license issued by Romania’s energy regulation agency ANRE. Energy suppliers will no longer be able to trade energy, reports local Mediafax.
Both traders and suppliers can currently import or export energy.
Under the new rules, the energy suppliers will sell energy only to the final customers, while the traders will buy and sell energy on the central market or for export or import.
The new law also prohibits energy producers to import or export energy.
Romania exported electricity worth EUR 200 million in the first nine months of the last year.
