Enel keeps Romanian assets
Italian group Enel will not sell its assets in Romania, as they match the company’s new strategy, said Francesco Starace, the Enel CEO.
The group has removed Romania from the list of assets for sale, not only for now, but for the next five years as well.
“Romania fits our strategy because it is about distribution,” said Starace, cited by local Agerpres.
According to the new strategy, Enel will sell assets worth EUR 5 billion in the next years. On its mature markets, Europe including, the group will develop its digital distribution networks, whereas in South-America and Africa it will focus on green energy.
Last year, the company wanted to sell its assets in Romania as part of a larger program to raise EUR 4 billion by the end of 2014. However, it reached its target by completing other programs.
