Eolica Dobrogea sues Romania's Transelectrica for EUR 118 mln over power grid connection
Wind power company Eolica Dobrogea has sued the National Regulatory Authority for Energy, the state-owned electricity carrier Transelectrica and Horia Hahaianu, former general manager of Transelectrica for having refused to connect Eolica's wind farm developed in Cogealac (Dobrogea, in South - East Romania) to the national energy system, requesting damage of EUR 118 million annually. The court term for this file is March 16.
Eolica Dobrogea claims that Transelectrica and the National Regulatory Authority for Energy unreasonably refused to sign a report on the fulfillment of conditions for connecting the windfarm from Cogealac to the country's power grid, according to a statement from Transelectrica sent to the Bucharest Stock Exchange, where the company's shares are floating.
„Eolica Dobrogea requires Transelectrica and its former general manager Horia Hahaianu to repair the damage caused to the applicant by unlawful refusal of signing the protocol to fulfill the conditions in the connection contract, a damage provisionally estimated at EUR 118 million per year,” writes the statement.
Eolica Dobrogea works for Spanish Iberdrola, a company that specializes in renewable energy, that wants to build in Dobrogea approximately 50 wind farms with a total capacity of 1,500 MW by 2017.
