Ericsson cleared by Romania's Security Council to deliver components for 5G networks
Swedish manufacturer of telecom equipment Ericsson has obtained the approval from Romania's Security Council (CSAT) to provide equipment and software to be used in the IT infrastructures of national interest, as well as in the 5G networks.
The opinion was given to Ericsson Telecommunications Romania, Ericsson Antenna Technology Romania, Ericsson Estonia and Ericsson AB, Profit.ro reported.
The Swedish group has allocated almost RON 150 mln (EUR 30 mln) for the capitalization of the two Romanian subsidiaries, Ericsson Telecommunications Romania and Ericsson Antenna Technology Romania. The latter is the former telecommunications antenna factory taken over in 2019 from German company Kathrein in a global deal.
Since 2007, Romania has hosted one of Ericsson's four Global Service Centers (GSCs), with over 2,500 experts serving over 40 networks worldwide, with over 200 million subscribers.
