Erste, admitted as a broker on the Bucharest Stock Exchange
Austrian group Erste, the owner of the local lender BCR, was admitted as a broker on the Bucharest Stock Exchange. The company already started trading on January 15, last week.
“We are satisfied that the Romanian capital market will since now have a direct outpost in Vienna's reputable market and we hope that it will also become a new window of the Bucharest Stock Exchange to the world of international investors,” said Ludwik Sobolewski, CEO of Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Erste will act as a market maker for its own shares as well as for Fondul Proprietatea’s shares on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Romania’s largest bank BCR, which is part of Erste Group, is also an intermediary on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.
Erste Group has 15.8 million customers and 2,500 branches in seven CEE countries.
