Laszlo Andor, the European Commissioner on Labor has recently warned about an unemployment crisis in the EU, as many companies started to relocate activities outside the Union. His remark came at a debate organized in reply to the closing down of several factories, such as Nokia's in Romania, according to the BBC. It also focused on ArcelorMittal's shutdown of its Belgium factory and Nokia's decision to end production in Germany. ArcelorMittal's move aims at cutting its costs in Europe, while Nokia plans to axe 7,000 jobs in the EU.

The unemployment rate in the EU is of 9.5 percent on an average, with 21 percent in Spain, and there are no signs of improvement, according to Andor.
