EU money to help Romanians escape poverty by 2020
EU money will help half a million Romanians escape poverty by 2020.
The Human Capital Investment Operational Programme will help 580,000 people out of poverty by 2020, said Labour Minister Rovana Plumb, cited by local Agepres.
Some 20% of the programme’s funds, namely EUR 1.14 billion, will help fight poverty and social exclusion. To achieve this, national measures should mirror European programmes, according to Rovana Plumb.
The programme also aims to contribute to reaching a 70% employment rate among the 20-64 age group. This is a target presented in the National Strategy for Employment 2014-2020.
