EU starts infringement against Romania on consumer protection laws
The EU has started an infringement procedure against Romania after the country failed to fulfill its obligations on communicating the measures to mirror EU directives.
The EU directive in question concerns consumer rights, according to EurActiv.ro. The National Agency for Consumer Protection published a law project to mirror the EU laws, but the implementation deadline expired end of last year.
Now Romania and other countries have to enforce the EU rules on consumer protection starting June 13, 2014, and create an adaptation period for businesses until then.
