European Literature Night comes back to Bucharest, actors and writers to give public readings
European Literature Night is returning again to Bucharest, on May 29, and will open the International Bookfest. Actors, writers and journalists will read excerpts of European literature, old and new, at 13 locations in the city center.
Readings, lasting up to 20 minutes, will take place in parallel, every half hour between 19.30 – 22.30 at Bd. Carol I - Bd. I.C. Bratianu - Bd. Corneliu Coposu - Str. Traian, Dianei 4, The Living Room Café, ZOOM Out Lounge, AristoCats Bistro, Alchemia Art Gallery & Lounge, Asociaţia Generală a Vânătorilor şi Pescarilor Sportivi din România (the hunters and fishermen association), Bursa de Valori Bucureşti (Bucharest Stock Exchange), Lente & cafea, Saga Film, MOL gas station at Corneliu Coposu, La Scena, GreenTea and Blind Restaurant.
Among those giving readings are actors Ioana Abur, Florin Busuioc, Ilinca Goia, Gabriela Ioniţă, Nicoleta Lefter, Axel Moustache, Marian Râlea, Mihai Smarandache, Mihaela Teleoacă, Adrian Titieni, the rapper, Norzeatic, journalist Cătălin Ştefănescu and writer Mircea Dinescu. They will be reading from works by Jonathan Coe, Péter Esterházy, Paweł Huelle, Daniel Glattauer, Thierry Debroux, Jérôme Ferrari, Florina Ilis, Gonçalo M. Tavares, Elif Shafak. Older European literature will also feature, including excerpts from works by Bohumil Hrabal, Jaroslav Hašek, Franz Kafka, James Joyce, Dino Buzzati, Antonio Muñoz Molina.
The same passages will be read every half hour in all the meeting points, allowing the public to wander from one site to the next and hear a different story each time.
