European Parliament asks for improvement in handling EU funds
The European Parliament has asked Romania and Bulgaria to take measures for managing the funds from the European Union, eliminate the conflicts of interest in managing these funds and improving the surveillance process, according to a recent report issued this week.
Romania and Bulgaria reported two times and a half more irregularities in 2008 compared to the previous year, while other CEE countries which joined the EU in 2004 saw these irregularities in managing EU funds up only by 8 percent.
The European Parliament has also asked Romania and Bulgaria to increase the transparency for public acquisitions.
