European prosecutors to probe EU fund frauds in Romania
Prosecutors from across the EU will be able to carry out investigations in Romania on European funds-related frauds, especially on cross-border cases.
This was included in a report approved by the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties.
The report, made by Romanian MEP Monica Macovei, received 39 votes for, 12 votes against and one abstention.
Each EU country will have a delegate European prosecutor, except for the UK, Ireland and Denmark, which did not want to implement the system. The 25 European prosecutors will be active within the European Public Prosecutor's Office.
