An explosion occurred at the Petromidia refinery on Sunday afternoon, injuring three people who have suffered minor burns, according to the Territorial Labor Inspectorate . The explosion occurred after a pipe broke while the three workers were making pressure tests on a reactor. The refinery was shut down for revision, which is due to last until November 1st.

Rompetrol group owns the Petromidia refinery, which has been subject of debate recently after the Kazakh KazmunaiGaz was unable to redeem the bonds stemming from a 7-year old state debt. The state re-became minority shareholder in the refinery.
