Extremist tries to detonate bomb in central Romania
Romania's Directorate for Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) yesterday held a man, who was part of a Hungarian extremist movement, for trying to detonate an explosive device in Targu Secuiesc, in central Romania, on the country's National Day.
Prosecutors will ask for the man’s arrest at the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
The nationalist movement, called 64 Counties Youth Movement, wants to recreate the old borders of Hungary, which included certain parts of north-western Romania, at the beginning of the 20th century.
Romania celebrated yesterday its National Day, marking the country’s unification on December 1, 1918.
