Fewer building permits in Romania in first nine months

The number of building permits issued for residential buildings fell by 5.6 percent in the first nine months of this year in Romania, compared to the same period last year, down to 31,012, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

3,800 building permits were issued for residential buildings in September this year, down by 11.5 percent compared to August this year, and by 5.6 percent compared to September 2010, according to INS. Significant decreases were reported in the several areas of development, namely the Northeast area, where were reported with 163 permits less than the same period in 2010, and South-Muntenia. Slight increases were recorded in the Southeast development area, West, and Center.
