Fewer companies suspend activity in Romania while more new firms are registered

The number of Romanian companies which have suspended their activity in the first nine months of this year was down three times on the same period of 2010, according to the country's Trade Registry. Over 16,000 companies suspended their activity during this period. There were also almost 3,000 voluntary company cancellations, down 55 percent on the same period of 2010.

More companies were set up in the first three quarters of this year: over 100,000, compared to 84,000 during the same period of 2010.

There are over 900,000 firms and registered individuals doing business in Romania, as of the end of September. 288,000 of these are registered individuals, and 645,000 companies.
