Fewer foreign tourists to Romania in April
Fewer foreign visitors came to Romania in April this year, compared to the same month of last year, according to the data published by the National Statistics Institute (INS). Arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, registered at the border, reached 571,900 in April, down 2.5 percent compared to April 2010, most of foreign visitors coming from countries located in Europe. The EU countries covered 61.7 percent of the total arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania.
The number of tourists accommodated in tourist units in Romania increased by 5.1 percent in April over the same month of 2010, to 433,000 people, a quarter being foreign tourists.
Romanian tourists’ overnight stays in tourist facilities accounted for 77.5 percent of the total, while foreign tourists' overnight stays represented 22.5 percent.
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, registered at the border, counted 881,900, down 4.5 percent compared to April 2010.
