Fraud squad shuts down Old Town Malagamba restaurant for three months

The Malagamba restaurant in Bucharest's Old Town will close down for three months after the court approved a decision issued by the Financial authorities, the restaurant owners have announced. The police fraud squad found EUR 9 extra in the restaurant's cash register during a routine check. According to the restaurant owners, the extra money represented the waiters' tips. The restaurant owners also received a RON 8,000 fine (around EUR 1,860). Malagamba, owned by Irish John McCarthy, will re-open in April this year.
