Digital textbooks for pupils in first and second grades have been published on the manuale.edu.ro platform and can be downloaded for free, according to the Romanian Ministry of Education.

The announcement came more than a month after the start of the new school year, during which period the new digital textbooks have not been available.

“Under the image representing the front cover of each of the textbooks (posted in its digital version), there is also another version of the textbook, which can be downloaded in the PDF format,” reads the ministry’s statement.

The access on the platform is free for anyone who wants to use teaching materials. Since the launching, the new platform had 70,000 visitors.

The new textbooks for the first and second grades should have been available for pupils at the beginning of the school year, on September 15. The school year started however without new books for because the tender for the selection of textbooks was contested by some publishing houses.
