First bank in Romania to move its internal communication on the Google platform

25 January 2016

Raiffeisen Bank Romania, one of the top five local banks, has moved its e-mail communication and file management on the Google platform, becoming the first local lender that makes such a move.

The bank gave up its internal communication system, which could only be accessed from individual desktop terminals and didn’t allow file sharing and other options, and started using Google Apps for Work, a cloud-based solution, which the bank’s employees can access via mobile devices as well.

This move will also the bank to be more flexible in meeting the clients’ demands in terms of communication, and help the bank’s employees cooperate and communicate in real time by sharing Google docs.

“The transition to Google Apps is a step towards our digital transformation, the aim being to change the way Raiffeisen Bank’s employees work and support their clients,” said Carl Rossey, vice president for operations and IT at Raiffeisen Bank.

The implementation of the Google Apps for Work solution for the bank’s 5,400 employees has taken 90 days and was assisted by Netmail, a Google Premier Partner.

Raiffeisen Bank also changed its website recently.

Raiffeisen has about 2 million individual clients in Romania and serves 100,000 small and medium enterprises and about 7,800 larger companies. The bank has a network of over 500 units.
