Flat screen TVs, notebooks boost Romanian Flanco’s sales by 40% in December 2011

Romanian IT&C retailer Flanco posted sales of over EUR 19.6 million ( RON 85 million ) in December last year, 40 percent more than in the same period in 2010, due to sales of flat screen TVs, notebooks and refrigerating equipment, according to the company. The sales of TVs represented half of the retailer’s total sales, while notebooks reached 15 percent of the total.

“Given that the market posted a growth of 20 percent in December 2011 compared to the same month in 2010, Flanco managed to report a double growth, reaching a market share of 13.5 percent,” said Adrian Olteanu, CEO Flanco.

The average value of Flanco’s customers purchases also increased in December 2011 by over 9 percent compared to the same period in 2010. The period between December 19 and December 23, 2011, was the company’s best period for sales. Bucharest had the best results in sales due to the expansion of the network here, where Flanco has a total of nine stores.

The busiest stores for sales were in Bucharest - Unirea Shopping City, Timisoara - Iulius Mall, Bucharest - Afi Palace Cotroceni, Brasov - Carrefour, Bucharest - Sun Plaza, according to the company.

Flanco currently runs 76 stores across Romania. The retailer’s main competitors are Altex and Domo.
