Foreign direct investment in Romania grow two-fold in the first two months
Foreign direct investment in Romania more than doubled in the first two months of this year, reaching EUR 294 million, compared to EUR 140 million reported for the same period last year, according to the Romanian National Bank (BNR).
Out of the total foreign direct investments made by non-residents in Romania, EUR 267 million were intra-group loans and EUR 27 million were capital holdings consolidated with estimated net loss. The foreign direct investment fully financed the current account deficit in the first two months, some EUR 44 million. Last year, direct foreign investment totaled EUR 2.5 billion, down by 25.5 percent compared to 2009, when they reached EUR 3.4 billion.
