Foreign direct investment down by a quarter in Romania in four months
Foreign direct investment in Romania totaled EUR 887 million in the first four months of this year, down by almost a quarter (23.8%) compared to the same period of 2015, according to Romania’s National Bank (BNR).
The capital increases and reinvested net profits totaled EUR 1.43 billion, up from only EUR 199 million in January-April 2015.
However, the local subsidiaries repaid EUR 545 million (net) worth of loans to parent-companies while in the first four months of last year the multinationals granted EUR 965 million net loans to their subsidiaries.
