Foreign direct investments halve in first eight months in Romania

Non-residents’ direct investment in Romania stood at EUR 1.12 billion during the first eight months of this year, down 52 percent as compared to January-August 2010, according to the country's Central Bank (BNR). Foreign direct investments covered 34.2 percent of the current account deficit in January-August 2011.

Out of the total figure, equity stakes consolidated with the estimated net loss amounted to EUR 1 billion and intra-group loans totaled EUR 105 million.
