Foreign direct investment 2011 reaches only EUR 1.3 bln in Romania after ten months

Foreign direct investments were down 43.8 percent in the first ten months of this year on the same period of 2010, to EUR 1.3 billion. These investments covered only 31.9 percent of the current account deficit.

The current account deficit- the difference between total imports of goods and services and the total exports- stood at EUR 4 billion during this period. Foreign direct investments reached EUR 2.5 billion last year – down 25 percent on the previous year. In 2010, these investments financed half of the current account deficit.
