Foreign Minister: Romania willing to host NATO troops

04 December 2014

Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu said yesterday in a Brussels meeting with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg that Romania is willing to host NATO command and control elements on its national territory, reports local Mediafax. He added that the Alliance should keep a close check on the Black Sea security.

Aurescu said that Romania wants to obtain, already starting 2015, visible results by applying the Readiness Action Plan to increase the reaction level within the Alliance, including through an allied presence in Romania.

The Alliance must keep an eye on the Black Sea security, through allied security-building measures, such as joint exercises, or exchange of information and assessments, he added.
