Almost 1.05 million foreign tourists visited Romania in the first seven months of this year, which is 100,000 or 10.8% more compared to the same period of 2013, according to Romania’s statistics institute INS.

The number of tourists from Asia increased by 36.5%, while tourists from North America were 25.2% more than in the same period of 2013. However, more than 80% of foreign tourists come from Europe. Their number increased by 6.3%.

The number of Romanian tourists who checked into local accommodation units also increased by 3.1%, to 3.49 million.

The total number of tourists, Romanian and foreign, registered into Romanian hotels and guesthouses was up by 4.8% to 4.54 million. The number of overnights also increased by 5.8%, to 10.56 million.
