Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair makes special visit to Romania, meets Romanian PM Ponta
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair recently made another visit to Romania and met the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta. On Sunday evening (June 9), the two politicians dined together at a restaurant in Bucharest.
“Mr. Blair was heading to Israel and made a stop in Bucharest. We had dinner and talked about his opinion on what is going to happen in Europe. I have a lot to learn from him, a great prime minister of a very important country and with a political culture from which we have a lot to learn,” said Victor Ponta, after the meeting with Tony Blair.
Also, the former British Prime Minister gave some advice to Romania’s PM Victor Ponta. “We should have more confidence in ourselves. Indeed, if we don’t have confidence in Romania, no one will have more than us,” said the Romanian Prime Minister, referring to one of the pieces of advice received from the British politician.
Tony Blair served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2007. He previously visited Romania in 2012.
Between June 10 and June 11, 2013, the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta is on an official visit to Germany and Slovakia, where he will meet the Federal Chancellor of Germany - Angela Merkel and the Prime Minister of Slovakia - Roberto Fico.
