Former Colgate factory in Brasov, replaced by EUR 20 mln hospital
A new hospital has been opened in Brasov, on the site of the former Colgate factory in in the city. A EUR 20 million investment by Teo Health, controlled by pharmaceutical retailer Ropharma and two individual investors, the hospital was opened last week in the Romanian city. The Sfantul Constantin hospital covers 9,000 sqm and features five sections, totaling 73 beds.
The Colgate-Palmolive factory in Brasov was closed down in 2008, part of a reorganization process, with the local production moved to a factory in Poland. It took the investors ten months to turn the site into the EUR 20 million hospital. The hospital is adjoined by the Regina Maria gynecology hospital, which covers 3,000 sqm and required an investment of EUR 4.2 million from Regina Maria private healthcare operator (Centrul Medical Unirea). The two hospitals together create the Brasov Medical Campus.
Teo Health is controlled by Ropharma and by Floriean Firu, vicepresident of SIF Transilvania, alonf with Romania entrepreneur Cristian Teodorescu, each with a 33 percent stake in the company. The latter controls Teo Holding, which runs businesses in tourism, real estate, industry, media and printing house.
