Former GM of ING Romania Ralph Hamers nominated CEO of the Group
Ralph Hamers - ING Romania’s General Manager between 1999 and 2002 - has been nominated to take over as CEO of the Dutch ING Group starting October 1, 2013.
He will replace Jan Hommen, whose four-year term on the Executive Board will expire after the AGM on May 13, 2013. “The Supervisory Board will propose to the AGM to re-appoint him for the period until October 1 to ensure a smooth leadership transition,” reads a statement from the group.
Ralph Hammers holds an MSc in Business Econometrics/Operations Research from Tilburg University in the Netherlands and has completed professional programs at the Netherlands Institute for Banking, the Amsterdam Institute of Finance, Oxford University and INSEAD. He joined ING in 1991 and is currently CEO of ING Belgium.
He became General Manager of ING Romania in 1999, while in 2005 he was appointed CEO of ING Bank in the Netherlands before becoming Global Head of the Commercial Banking Network two years later. He was named Head of Network Management for Retail Banking Direct and International in 2010. In that year he also became member of the ING Banking Management Team, which governs corporate development and strategic activities.
ING group has banking and insurance business in over 50 countries. In Romania, besides the bank division, the Dutch Group owns ING Asigurari de Viata, ING Pensii, ING Lease, ING Commercial Finance and ING Real Estate Investment Management.
