Former head of Romanian city’s public transport to run similar Abu Dhabi company
The director of the Oradea Local Transport (OTL) company, Csuzi Istvan, announced last week he was leaving the Romanian public transport company to manage a similar one in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, local ebihoreanul.ro reported.
Istvan had been running the local transport in Oradea, a city in Western Romania close to the border with Hungary, for the past eight years. The Abu Dhabi company he will be running is called City Transport, part of the Emirates National Group, according to ebihoreanul.ro.
City Transport is the sole operator of the Public Bus Services since July 2008 in Abu Dhabi Island and Suburbs, in Al Ain and the Eastern Region, and in the intercity (Abu Dhabi - Dubai). The Emirates National Group (ENG) owns and operates several private and public transport companies, and their associated services.
In his new position Istvan would have to introduce a tram system in the city, and help optimize the bus transport, ebihoreanul.ro wrote.
While managing the Oradea public transport company, Csuzi oversaw the project of modernizing the city's tram fleet and the construction of a new tram line, the introduction of e-ticketing and the implementing of public transport stations equipped with electronic displays showing the routes' schedules.
