Former Romanian PM starts blogging from his jail cell

20 August 2012

Romania's former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, who is currently in jail, serving his two-year jail sentence for embezzling funds in the “Quality Trophy" case , started writing on his blog while preparing a study on Romania's representation at the European Union. He writes that he sees himself as being in some sort of political off season training.

On his latest blog post, the former PM writes about the recent prosecutor searches into the referendum voting, saying he has not been asked whether he votes multiple times, as prosecutors know very well the main reason behind his conviction was not to vote in the next year, nor to be elected.

The former PM also re- started writing editorials in a local daily, Jurnalul National.

Nastase is currently doing time at Jilava. Before being taken to jail earlier this summer, Nastase shot himself in the neck, but was reportedly prevented from killing himself by one of the Policemen who were in his house.
