Former Romanian PM Ungureanu runs for president in this year’s elections

Former Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, who had the helm of the Government for only two months in 2012, is Forta Civica’s candidate in this year’s presidential elections in Romania. He recently announced he will for sure run for president.

“My intention is clear and firm - to run in the presidential elections in November this year,” he said, reports local Digi24.

He sees a possible President-Prime Minister tandem with Klaus Iohannis, the interim head of the National Liberal Party, or with former presidential advisor and current member of the Popular Movement Party PMP Cristian Diaconescu.

Romanian politician Crin Antonescu, the former leader of PNL, recently announced his withdrawal from the presidential race.
