Former Romanian prosecutor caught in London, to serve jail at home
A former prosecutor of the Buftea Court, who was sentenced to six years in jail for bribery and influence trading was recently caught in London and will be brought back to Romania to serve time.
Nelu Carpen, who was tracked down by the Interpol, will first be heard by a British court, which will decide on the European arrest mandate. Carpen was sentenced to jail in June this year, a definitive court decision, four years after his trial started. Twelve other people were also convicted in this case, for having asked and taken money from people back in 2009 to solve their court cases.
