Four Romanians and an Italian caught red handed with large marijuana plantation hidden in Italian lemon grove
Four Romanians have been arrested in Italy for planting and selling marijuana.
Their marijuana plantation, located in the Catania province in the Southern region of Italy, was in the middle of a lemon plantation, and was discovered by the Police with the use of a plane.
The Police confiscated 2.5 tonnes of marijuana, value of which exceeds EUR 1 million.
The plantation, located in a rather isolated village, was well organized and was watered with a modern irrigation system.
The four Romanians and the Italian, who owned the land and who appears to have been the brain of the operation, were placed under house arrest.
Italian Police have been increasingly facing marijuana plantations, especially in the Catania province, where there are enough isolated areas to cultivate the drug.
Marijuana, also known as cannabis, is intended for use as a psychoactive drug and as medicine.
Cannabis is often consumed for its psychoactive and physiological effects, which can include heightened mood or euphoria, relaxation, and increase in appetite.
Unwanted side-effects can sometimes include a decrease in short-term memory, dry mouth, impaired motor skills, reddening of the eyes, and feelings of paranoia or anxiety.
